Second Self is a time capsule app that lets users create private capsules, event capsules, promo capsules, public capsules, and memory galleries. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how users can request deletion of their account and associated data.
Information We Collect
Depending on how you use Second Self, we may collect account information such as your email address, user ID, display name, profile photo, authentication status, language settings, app preferences, and account settings.
We may also collect user-generated content that you choose to create or upload, including capsule titles, notes, messages, comments, photos, videos, audio, profile images, event contributions, promo capsule content, public memory submissions, and related metadata.

How We Use Information
We use information to provide and operate Second Self, including account access, capsule creation, memory storage, event sharing, QR/code joining, public capsule viewing, profile display, comments, moderation, support, app security, abuse prevention, troubleshooting, and purchase-related features.
Firebase and Third-Party Services
Second Self uses Firebase and Google services for features such as authentication, cloud database, file storage, hosting, crash reporting, analytics, and app infrastructure. App store providers, such as Apple and Google Play, may process purchase and download information according to their own policies.
User-Generated Content
Users are responsible for the content they upload or submit. Content may be private, shared with event participants, visible to capsule owners or hosts, or public depending on the capsule type and user-selected visibility settings.
Public and Shared Content
Public capsules, promo capsules, highlighted memories, posts, comments, and event contributions may be visible to other users depending on the feature and capsule settings. Do not upload content you do not have permission to share.
Purchases
Second Self may offer in-app purchases for event capsules, promo capsules, upgrades, or extensions. Purchases are processed by the applicable app store provider. Second Self may store purchase-related status or product information needed to unlock purchased app features.
Data Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We may share data with service providers needed to operate the app, comply with legal obligations, protect users, investigate abuse, or enforce our terms.
Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect user data. No online service can guarantee complete security, but we work to protect accounts, media, and app data from unauthorized access.
Data Retention
We keep information for as long as needed to provide the app, support user-requested features, maintain security, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our terms. When an account deletion request is completed, we delete or anonymize account-related data where technically possible and legally allowed.
Account and Data Deletion
Users can initiate account deletion inside the Second Self app from Settings using the hold-to-delete account option. Users can also request account deletion through our web deletion page: https://secondself.info/delete-account.
Some limited information may be retained where required for security, fraud prevention, legal, tax, purchase records, moderation history, or abuse-prevention reasons.
Children
Second Self is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through Second Self, contact us so we can review and take appropriate action.
International Use
Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own, depending on the services used to operate Second Self.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
